Make a Difference!

Starfish, once washed ashore, are unable to get back into the water on their own and will die from lack of oxygen.

The story is told of a woman who was walking along the seashore picking up starfish which had washed ashore and was tossing them back into the water. A man, also walking along the shore, questioned her activity. "What are you doing?" he asked. "I'm throwing these starfish back into the ocean," she said, "You see, it's low tide right now and all of these starfish have been washed up on the shore. If I don't throw them back into the water, they'll die."

"But," said the man, "there must be thousands of starfish on this beach. You can't save all of them. You can't possibly make a difference."

"True," said the woman as she bent down and picked up yet another starfish and threw it back into the sea. "But for this one I can make a difference."

What difference can we make in our life and our world?
